Untangling The Complex Goodwin and Landry Family Trees On "The Way Home"
Just when we thought we had the Goodwin and Landry family trees on "The Way Home" all figured out, last night's premiere threw us for another loop. In the episode, titled "Blinded By The Light", we learn that Fern Landry (Colton's grandmother, Kat and Jacob's great-grandmother and Alice's great-great-grandmother) was engaged to Grayson Goodwin (presumably the grandfather of Evelyn Goodwin) in 1925. However, this revelation causes some problems. One, it would mean that Evelyn basically spent all of Season Three crushing on her first cousin. Second, it complicates the origins of the Landry family's time travel abilities. Up to this point, we have assumed that the time travel abilities originated with the Landry family. However, the revelation of Fern and Grayson's engagement combined with the revelation of K.C. Goodwin (the supposed grandchild of Evelyn) as a time traveler last season opens up the possibility that it is actually the Goodwin family that the time travel abilities originated from and not the Landry family as we had previously assumed. That being said, just because Fern and Grayson got engaged in last night's episode doesn't mean that they end up getting married. We still have eight episodes to go to see how everything turns out.
