New Questions Following "The Way Home" Season Four Premiere
Last night, the fourth and final season of the hit Hallmark Channel original series "The Way Home" premiered. The episode, titled "Show Me The Way To Go Home", began with a flash forward into an unspecified time period (The caption simply reads "Port Haven-Future") that has left fans of the series with some big questions to answer. First, we see the three Landry women, Del (Andie McDowell), Kat (Chyler Leigh) and Alice (Sadie Laflamme-Snow) at the pond. They appear to be getting ready for a wedding. As they are talking, one of them says "I wish he could have been here" and another one says "He's with us in spirit". This leads to the two questions I have regarding this scene.
1. Who is the wedding for?
We know that Elliot (Evan Williams) is planning on proposing to Kat, so this would at first seem like the most obvious answer. However, things aren't always what they seem. Remember how Season Two began with what appeared to be young Jacob talking to his grandmother at the pond, only for the season finale to reveal that it was actually Jacob's father Colton. It wouldn't surprise me if the show was doing another bait and switch here.
2. Who is "he"?
Similar to the first question, the most obvious answer (Colton) may not be the correct one. We know that at some point, there will be an explosion in the basement of the Lingermore Estate that results in the deaths of five people. Could one of those five people be the person being referred to in the Landry women's conversation? We know that veteran Hallmark actor Dan Jeannotte will show up as temperance inspector Cliff Kane at some point this season. Could his character be the "he" the Landry women are referring to?
What do you all think the answers to these question could be? Let me know in the comments section below.
