"The Way Home" Observations
Author's Note: This article contains spoilers for "The Way Home". Do not read any further if you have not seen the first two seasons or any of the previews for Season Three.
Yesterday, Hallmark Mystery closed out the year by airing a Season One marathon of Hallmark Channel's hit television series "The Way Home". While watching the marathon, I made some observations about the series on Twitter. Below are some of those observations.
In the premiere, we learn that Colton and Delilah met as teenagers. Could this be foreshadowing their introduction in Season Three? #TheWayHome

When teenage Kat tells Colton that she found Alice in the pond, he doesn’t seem surprised. Could this be foreshadowing the revelation in the Season Two finale that he was using the pond? #TheWayHome

At the beginning of Episode Two, Kat starts to hyperventilate while on the phone looking for Alice. Could this be foreshadowing her panic attack in Episode Seven? #TheWayHome

Since we now know that Colton can time travel as well, did he know that Alice was his granddaughter when he first met her? #TheWayHome

When Alice first arrives in 1999, it’s during a month that starts on a Friday. That year, there were two months (January and October) that started on a Friday. #TheWayHome

However, this creates a problem . It’s stated in Episode Three that Alice arrived in 1999 at the beginning of summer, meaning the calendar page should have either started on Saturday (May) or Tuesday (June). #TheWayHome

The ending of Episode Three (when Kat jumps into the pond after Alice) can be considered the turning point of the series, since it’s when the series goes from just good to great. #TheWayHome

We know that at some point during Season Three, Kat will go back in time and meet her dad as a teenager. When Colton met Kat in 1999, did he recognize her from then? #TheWayHome

Assuming Kat introduces herself by name at some point to the teenage version of her parents, does that mean she was named after herself just as Alice was named after herself? #TheWayHome

In a preview for Season Three, we see Alice taking to someone on her phone and saying “Someone other than us is time traveling”. Who is she referring to? Colton? Casey Goodwin? Someone else? #TheWayHome

We know from Season Two that Kat is the White Witch. Presumably, Jacob got the name from “The Chronicles Of Narnia”, but could the character in the series have been named after Kat in the show’s universe? #TheWayHome

When Colton gets dunked in Episode Six, his swimming motion is identical to the one used by Alice and Kat whenever they use the pond. Could this be foreshadowing his own use of the pond? #TheWayHome
— Wesley Eversole ☮️🟧 (@wesths05) January 1, 2025
When Colton tells teenage Kat “I’ll miss you” at the beginning of Episode Nine, is he referring to Kat’s upcoming trip or his own impending death? #TheWayHome

Season Three of "The Way Home" will premiere on Hallmark Channel at 9 PM Eastern Standard Time on Friday January 3.
