Today, the second episode of Season Four of "Only Murders In The Building". Titled "Gates Of Heaven", the episode sees Oliver (Martin Short) and Mabel (Selena Gomez) investigating the neighbors in the Arconia's West Tower while Charles (Steve Martin) is haunted by visions of his recently murdered stunt double Sazz (Jane Lynch). However, it soon turns out that Sazz isn't the only woman from Charles' past to make an appearance. While waiting for Oliver and Mabel to get back from their investigation, Charles hears noises coming from his closet and opens it up to find Jan (Amy Ryan)-his ex-girlfriend and the murderer of Tim Kono in Season One. Having escaped from prison, Jan tells Charles that Sazz had been investagating the Arconia a week before her murder, believing that someone was targeting Charles for murder.

Meanwhile, Oliver and Mabel are exploring the Arconia's West Tower where they meet some of the people whose apartments are directly across from Charles' and thus the people who would have the best chance at shooting Charles. These people include Vince Fish aka "Stink-Eye" Joe (Richard Kind) who wears an eye-patch over his right eye due to suffering from pinkeye and his next-door neighbors-Alfonso (Desmin Borges) , his wife Inez (Daphne Rubin-Vega) and their daughter Ana (Lilian Rebel). They invite Oliver and Mabel to play a card game called "Oh Hell". When Oliver's turn comes up, he is taken into the bathroom by Alfonso where he sees what he thinks is a dead body hanging up on the shower curtain, but Alfonso assures him it's just a leg of ham. Oliver and Mabel then investigate another West Tower apartment belonging to someone named "Dudenoff", whose name was listed on one of the notes that Sazz had left behind when she died, along with another note containing the code (773440) to the apartment. While in the apartment, Oliver and Mabel discover that one of the windows was pried open, meaning that whoever killed Sazz most likely shot her from that window. They also discover that someone has been keeping a live pig in the apartment as well, putting suspicion back on Alfonso and his family.

Back at Charles's apartment, Jan is attempting to warn Charles that someone is after him. Suddenly, they hear someone banging on Charle's door. Thinking it's the police, Jan goes back into the closet. Fortunately, it turns out to just be Oliver and Mabel. Charles attempts to show them Jan, but when he opens up his closet door, there's no one there, leading Oliver and Mabel to think that Charles is going insane. However, when the police and Detective Donna Williams (Da'Vine Joy Randolph) burst into Charles' apartment looking for Jan, they realize that Charles was telling the truth-which also means that Jan was telling the truth about Charles, and not Sazz, being the killer's intended target.  They also discover that Sazz wrote a message in blood ("Tap In", referring to a phrase that she used on set when performing Charles' stunts) and that the code to Dudenoff's apartment is actually the words "Oh Hell" spelled upside down-which means it is almost certain that either Alfonso, Inez or Ana is the killer.
