A blog where I talk about movies and television shows that I have watched. I mainly talk about Hallmark movies and shows but could eventually expand into other shows and movies.
Today, January 1, 2024, one of the most iconic animated shorts in American history officially entered the public domain. "Steamboat Willie", which was originally produced and released by Walt Disney Animation Studios on November 18, 1928, has entered the public domain after its 95 year copyright finally expired. The copyright expiration means that Disney no longer has the exclusive rights to the versions of Mickey and Minnie Mouse that appear in the short, although they will continue to hold the copyright to versions of Mickey and Minnie from shorts released after "Steamboat Willie".
The entire "Steamboat Willie" short can be seen below.
When will other Mickey Mouse animated shorts enter the public domain?
Based on current U.S. copyright law, which states that a work enters the public domain on January 1st 95 years after a work is first released, the following Mickey Mouse animated shorts will enter the public domain in the following years. (Author's note: I'm only including the shorts that were originally released during Walt Disney's lifetime; also, shorts that are already in the public domain, such as "The Mad Doctor", are not listed here. All shorts listed will enter the public domain on January 1st of the year listed).

Today, March 30th, marks 59 years since the popular game show Jeopardy first premiered on NBC. To celebrate the milestone, I have decided to rank the show's ten greatest contestants based on my own rankings formula. In order to get each player's final rating, I multiplied the total number of games that each player has competed in on Jeopardy (both regular season and tournament games) by the number of clues per game (61). I then took that number and multiplied it by what the J-Archive (arguably the largest collection of Jeopardy memorabilia on the internet) refers to as the contestant's "batting average"-that is, the average percentage of correct responses given by the contestant relative to the total possible responses during that contestant's games. This gave each player their final rating. So, without further ado, here are the Top Ten Jeopardy Contestants Of All Time. Update: In the fifteen months have that passed since these rankings were first published, ...
Yesterday, it was announced that Sarah Drew ("Christmas In Vienna", "One Summer") would be portraying the titular character in an upcoming Hallmark Movies & Mysteries film "Guiding Emily". The movie, which is set to premiere on Friday September 8 at 9/8 Central, revolves around the titular Emily, who becomes blind following a rock-climbing accident. While Hallmark Channel has made tremendous strides when it comes to representation in the disabled community (For example, "The Christmas Bow" features a disabled character named Tess, played by real life Charcot-Marie-Tooth patient Joy Perry, and movies like "Our Christmas Journey" and "Color My World With Love" feature autistic actors and actors with Down Syndrome in prominent roles), one area that the network is still lagging behind in when it comes to authentic representation in the disabled community is blind or visually impaired actors. By my count, Emily will be at the ...

With the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, or SAG-AFTRA, possibly set to go on strike, I thought I should let fans know where they might be able to find these films and/or series. (Author's Note: Only media I could find currently available for streaming will...
This Friday March 24th, the final episode in the Pokemon anime featuring Satoshi/Ash Ketchum as the main protagonist will premiere on TV Tokyo in Japan. To celebrate the end of Ash's journey, I have decided to list the top Pokemon episode of each year up to the current year as ranked by fans on the Internet Movie Database, or IMDB. Author's Note: The year listed refers to the year that the episode first premiered in Japan; also, the title listed is the title given by IMDB, which may refer to either the English translation of the original Japanese title or the English dub title. 1997-"Pokemon, I Choose You" (8.5) 1998-"Decisive Battle! Guren Gym!" (8.3) 1999-"Final Battle! Enter Kairyu!!" (8.3) 2000-"Lizardon Valley! Until We Meet Again!!" (7.9) 2001-"Enju Gym! Ghost Battle!!"(7.8) 2002-"Rival Confronation! Kamex vs Lizardon!!" Hello. First, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Wesley Eversole. I have been an avid watcher of Hallmark Channel for about four years now and have watched almost all of their series, including their most recent series, "The Way Home", which premiered on January 15. If you are not familiar with the series, let me give you a basic rundown on the premise. The series basically revolves around the main character, Alice Dhawan (played by Sadie Laflamme-Snow) discovering that she has the ability to travel through time and jumping into a pond out in the woods behind her maternal grandmother, Del Landry's (Andie McDowell) family farm. She travels back to 1999, where she meets her mother, Kat (Alex Hook) as a teenager. "The Way Home" has several mysteries but by far the most prominent is the disappearance of Kat's younger brother Jacob (Remy Smith) during a Fall Festival in 1999. In the series' most recent episo...
POSTables might not have to wait too long for news about the next movie in the "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" series. The most recent issue of "Production Weekly", published yesterday March 7, lists "Signed Sealed Delivered Movie 12" as one of 160 productions. The news has already caught the attention of "Deliver Me A Podcast", the official podcast for "Signed, Sealed, Delivered", who posted it on their Instagram page and stories yesterday. While there has not been any official word from Hallmark Media about a new "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" film, this has to be promising for POSTables who have patiently waited for news on whether or not the series will be continued. The most recent film in the series, "The Vows We Have Made", premiered on Hallmark Movies And Mysteries (now Hallmark Mystery) on October 17, 2021. Update-The March 14 issue of “Production Weekly” lists “Signed, Sealed, Delivered Movie 13” among...

This Friday May 19, Hallmark Movies And Mysteries will premiere the latest film in the "Hannah Swensen Mysteries" series, "Carrot Cake Murder". To celebrate the premiere, I have decided to rank the first six films in the series using the same ratings formula that I have used in my previous rankings. Please note that these rankings include both the "Murder She Baked" series and the "Hannah Swensen Mysteries" series. Author's Note: The rating for "A Plum Pudding Mystery" is based solely on its IMDB rating, as I was unable to find a viewership total for that film. Author's Note: Pictures courtesy of "IMDB" and "Hallmark Movies And Mysteries" 1. Sweet Revenge Premiere Date: August 8, 2021 My Rating: 10.626 IMDB Summary: "As Hannah and Mike experience engaged life while balancing their busy careers, a murder at a 24-hour gym complicates their wedding planning." 2. On Saturday June 17, 2023, I had the privilege of attending a screening of "Little Town", an independent film directed by Dani Menkin and starring Jason Paul Field, Crystal St. John and Grant Stevens. The movie follows Jason ( Field), his son Tommy (Stevens) and their new friend Lauren (St. John) as they make the journey to the titular location of Little Town. When the movie begins, Jason is an aspiring stand-up comic who has been living alone with his son Tommy ever since his wife passed away an unspecified time ago. He has never told Tommy the truth about what happened to his mother, only telling them that she was "up in the sky", which Tommy believes means that she is living on top of a mountain in a place called "Little Town", an ostensibly mythical place that Jason has told his son stories about. One day while Jason is sitting in his car, a young woman (St. John) suddenly gets in and asks him to drive, though ...
