AI Will Never Duplicate These Emotionally Powerful Hallmark Channel Moments

Elizabeth Thornton finding out that her husband Jack has died on "When Calls The Heart". Phoebe Amidon being reunited with her mother at the end of "Signed, Sealed, Delivered: The Impossible Dream". Kat Landry realizing that she was responsible for her father's death on "The Way Home". These are just some of the many emotionally powerful moments that Hallmark Channel has given us over the years-and the reason they were able to make us feel the way they did is because they were written and performed by real people. Erin Krakow (Elizabeth), Megan Charpentier (Phoebe) and Chyler Leigh (Kat) are all real people who easily gave their best performances from their respective roles in these scenes. The people responsible for writing these scenes (Brian Bird, Michael Landon Jr. and Elizabeth Stewart on "When Calls The Heart"; Martha Williamson and Brandi Harkonen on "Signed, Sealed, Delivered"; and Tally Knoll, Marly Reed and Heather Co

SAG-AFTRA Set To Go On Strike on Friday

Today, the Screen Actors Guild and American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) voted to begin striking tomorrow at 12:00 midnight PDT (3:00 AM EDT). The strike, along with the ongoing Writers Guild Association (WGA) strike, is over a dispute with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) over residuals from streaming services as well as the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in both screenwriting and acting, among other issues. I will post a link to the official SAG-AFTRA strike website, which should explain everything you need to know about the strike, below.  https://www.sagaftrastrike.org/ Sources https://www.theverge.com/2023/7/13/23794224/sag-aftra-actors-strike-ai-image-rights https://www.reuters.com/world/us/hollywood-actors-union-sets-strike-vote-thursday-talks-break-down-2023-07-13/ https://deadline.com/2023/07/actors-strike-contract-talks-fail-sag-aftra-to-launch-pickets-1235436031/ https://deadline.com/2023/07/actors-strike-sag

Addressing Hallmark Channel's "Blind" Spot

Yesterday, it was announced that Sarah Drew ("Christmas In Vienna", "One Summer") would be portraying the titular character in an upcoming Hallmark Movies & Mysteries film "Guiding Emily". The movie, which is set to premiere on Friday September 8 at 9/8 Central, revolves around the titular Emily, who becomes blind following a rock-climbing accident. While Hallmark Channel has made tremendous strides when it comes to representation in the disabled community (For example, "The Christmas Bow" features a disabled character named Tess, played by real life Charcot-Marie-Tooth patient Joy Perry, and movies like "Our Christmas Journey" and "Color My World With Love" feature autistic actors and actors with Down Syndrome in prominent roles), one area that the network is still lagging behind in when it comes to authentic representation in the disabled community is blind or visually impaired actors. By my count, Emily will be at

Review-"Little Town"

Image
On Saturday June 17, 2023, I had the privilege of attending a screening of "Little Town", an independent film directed by Dani Menkin and starring Jason Paul Field, Crystal St. John and Grant Stevens. The movie follows Jason ( Field), his son Tommy (Stevens) and their new friend Lauren (St. John) as they make the journey to the titular location of Little Town.     When the movie begins, Jason is an aspiring stand-up comic who has been living alone with his son Tommy ever since his wife passed away an  unspecified time ago. He has never told Tommy the truth about what happened to his mother, only telling them that she was "up in the sky", which Tommy believes means that she is living on top of a mountain in  a place called "Little Town", an ostensibly mythical place that Jason has told his son stories about.      One day while Jason is sitting in his car, a young woman (St. John) suddenly gets in and asks him to drive, though she doesn't spec

"Love, Romance & Chocolate" Is Fans' Favorite Lacey Chabert Hallmark Movie

Image
Last week, I asked fans on social media to respond to a survey asking them to pick their favorite Lacey Chabert movie in anticipation of tonight's premiere of "The Dancing Detective: A Deadly Tango". After more than a week, the poll has been closed and the winner, with 66.7 percent of the vote, was 2019's "Love, Romance & Chocolate". "Christmas In Rome" and "Haul Out The Holly" each received 33.33 % of the vote (Fans had the option of choosing more than one movie) and were the only other films on the list to receive any votes.  I will provide a copy of the final results below. Watch both my Instagram page (instagram.com/ukweseversole) and my Twitter page (twitter.com/wesths05) tomorrow for my next poll.
